When a board certificate needs correction
A Matric or Intermediate certificate carries the name, date of birth, and results as recorded by the board at the time of the exam. When a name spelling or date is wrong, the issuing BISE or FBISE runs the correction against its own record. The board prints a corrected certificate, usually marked as a reissue.
The most common corrections are name spellings (the CNIC spelling differs from the board record), dates of birth, and parent name details. The board asks for the original certificate, the CNIC, and evidence of the correct details, such as a passport or a school record.
After the correction, the reissued certificate is what you attest. IBCC will not attest a certificate carrying an error, and a corrected record avoids the whole file being rejected at the attestation stage.

IBCC Certificate Attestation
The Inter Boards Coordination Commission sits in Islamabad and verifies certificates from all Pakistani education boards. When a foreign institution or visa office asks for IBCC attestation, they want proof that the certificate is genuine and the grades are correct. IBCC contacts the relevant board (Lahore Board, Federal Board, Karachi Board, and so on) and confirms the result. The board step runs inside the same order. Provincial certificates are confirmed by their issuing BISE, and federal or overseas Pakistani school certificates by FBISE from its Islamabad campus. You do not need a separate board filing. Once verified, IBCC applies its stamp. The stamped certificate can then move to MOFA and the embassy if needed for overseas use. This service covers Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) certificates. University degrees go to HEC instead. Some Gulf employers confuse the two and ask for HEC attestation of a Matric certificate, which is not possible. A lost Matric (SSC) or Intermediate (HSSC) certificate stops a surprising number of files. Employers ask for it, universities want it on record, and IBCC will not attest a certificate you do not have. Board certificate retrieval Pakistan is a board-office process. The BISE or FBISE that printed the original checks its record and issues a fresh copy. The issuing board holds the authority for duplicates. Provincial boards (Lahore Board, Karachi Board, Peshawar Board, and the others) issue Matric and Intermediate copies, and FBISE handles federal and overseas Pakistani school certificates from its Islamabad campus. The board checks its record, prints a fresh certificate, and stamps it. Most boards ask for the applicant CNIC, the exam details (roll number, year, and institution), photographs, and sometimes an affidavit or a lost certificate report where the original was stolen. Requirements differ slightly between boards, so we confirm the current list before filing. MOFA Attestation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the second stamp on any Pakistani document heading overseas. After the issuing body confirms the document (HEC for degrees, IBCC for school certificates, NADRA for personal documents), MOFA adds its own stamp that confirms the prior verification. MOFA runs two routes. The traditional attestation feeds into the embassy step for non-Hague destinations like the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Malaysia. The apostille route is a single stamp valid in Hague Convention member states that accept Pakistani apostilles, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, China, the UK, Australia, and others. Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland are members but objected to Pakistan's accession, so the apostille is not accepted there and we verify each case with the receiving office. Pakistan acceded to the Hague Convention, and the apostille route entered into force on 9 March 2023.
